Unique Wedding Venues: Rustic Settings

Our series on unique wedding venues continues with rustic settings in the Akron area. This year, barns and  rustic settings are immensely popular; in fact, many have every Saturday reserved through 2014 already. If you're getting married in the next two years and want a specific venue, it doesn't hurt to make those phone calls now.

Here's just a sampling of some rustic barns, farms & lodges in the area. Please let us know if we've left off any you know of - this is a work in progress!

The Conrad Botsum Farmstead in Bath is a picturesque and lovely setting for your rustic wedding. They have 25 acres of beautiful farmscape and are only 15 minutes from downtown Akron, and 40 minutes from downtown Cleveland. The barn will seat 170-180 at round tables, reserving space for a catering line with space for music and dancing on the deck. If the 25′ x 45′ covered deck is utilized for overflow seating, the number goes up to 200.

The Cuyahoga Valley National Park is the setting for two great venues: Happy Days Lodge, and for smaller weddings, the Hines Hill Conference Center. The 4,000 square-foot Lodge and breezy screened-in porch surrounded by a rolling meadow is the ideal setting for an unforgettable wedding event. This unique venue is on the national register of historic places and is a gorgeous example of a wormy chestnut and sandstone structure, built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The Lodge is a perfect backdrop for planning a creative wedding event. The facility can accommodate up to 180 guests for a seated dinner. In fact, there is a Bridal Open House Weds. March 6th from 5 - 8 pm at Happy Days Lodge.

The Hines Hill Campus can accommodate 40 guests for a seated meal in the Conference Center. With creative planning and tenting, groups as large as 80-100 can enjoy this unique property.

The city of Stow is home to the Heritage Barn, which can accommodate up to 200 people. The facility, located in a lovely setting off of Young Road, includes a large work area with restrooms, drinking fountain, coat area, heat, separate kitchen with stove, cooler, freezer and sink.

Brookside Farms in Louisville (east of Canton & south of Rootstown) is an absolutely fantastic barn venue. The historic 1884 barn has capacity for up to 300 guests. The main level contains 6,000 square feet and also has a loft for casual use. Upscale restrooms are located within the barn as well as an oversized room and dock for catering use.

Some mood lighting is permanently installed and additional lighting can be arranged. A large “country” bar includes ample coolers for refreshments. Despite its age, the barn contains modern conveniences to assure you have a great event - like a 120” high definition screen for viewing favorite photographs and videos. This place is immensely popular so book way ahead of your wedding day! This is the venue for Caitlin's 2014 wedding!

Just a little further south, in Minerva, is the Snodes Restored Country Barn. Located in the beautiful hills of Carroll County, this rustic barn includes tables and chairs to seat 200 guests and has a lovely flagstone patio. They also offer catering for groups of 15 or more.

Located just five miles east of Wooster in beautiful Orrville, you'll find the Barn at the Meadows. It has authentic peg and beam construction with hand hewn beams set in the gorgeous Wayne county countryside. Transformed for the wedding of a family member, it is the true barn setting so many brides are looking for!

Next week, we'll check out a few rustic venues further afield (click here to read that post). And in upcoming posts, we'll cover more unique venues in the Akron/Canton/Cleveland area! All images are from the venue's websites, except those noted by JaNicki Photography.
